Tips & Tricks

Make sure that you do not over crowd the air fryer as the salmon will not cook properly. I like to cook mine in batches. I did 3 in the first batch and the remaining filet in another batch.

Tools to make this easy recipe

  • The Cosori Air Fryer is my favorite air fryer because of the big basket. It’s perfect for a variety of recipes.
  • Basting brush to easily apply the teriyaki sauce
  • Meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the salmon is at least 145F.

How to make Frozen Salmon in the Air Fryer

  1. Carefully cut the frozen salmon into 4 5 oz fillets.
  2. Next, transfer the frozen fillets to the air fryer basket. You may need to cook them in batches depending on how much you are cooking.
  3. First, cook frozen salmon fillets for 4 minutes at 390F. Next, baste them with half of the teriyaki sauce and cook for 4 more minutes.
  4. Then, baste with the remaining half of the teriyaki sauce and cook for 4 additional minutes. Check to make sure the internal temperature is at least 145F.
  5. Carefully remove the salmon from the air fryer basket and top with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Substitutions

If you do not have salmon, you can always try these similar healthy fat fish like trout, herring, or mackerel.

FAQs

Can you make frozen salmon in an air fryer?

Yes, and it will turn out delicious! You just need to cook the frozen salmon a little bit longer than fresh salmon fillets. The first part of the cooking process basically defrosts the salmon fillets so that we can marinate them and then we cook the salmon like normal.

Can I leave the skin on when I cook frozen salmon in the air fryer?

Yes! I almost always leave the skin on my salmon when cooking. It’s packed full of vitamins and minerals and omega 3 fatty acids.

Do I need to defrost salmon before cooking it in the air fryer?

No need to thaw the salmon first! With my recipe for cooking frozen salmon, you can take it from the freezer straight to the air fryer without defrosting it.

Do you have to flip salmon in the air fryer?

I never flip my salmon when cooking it in the air fryer. It cooks perfectly without being flipped.

Love all your recipes, I have added them to my cookbook. You say you like your Cosori air fryer the best. Please check your model and serial number from the list you will find online as there have been some fire issues with some of them and they are asking for them to be returned even if you cannot find your receipt. I think you will probably already know of this but I just want you to be safe. Regards Sandra
