Hi! Thanks for taking the time to visit my website. I’m Lara Clevenger, a registered dietitian nutritionist, certified personal trainer, cookbook author, media dietitian, spokesperson, and nutrition writer in Port Orange, Florida.
In this blog you'll find a collection of easy and healthy recipes. A large majority of them are low carb or keto recipes, this is because I used to specialize in keto diets for my nutrition practice, and I even have 5 keto cookbooks! You'll also notice that I have a bunch of Blackstone recipes, smoker recipes, Instant Pot recipes, and Ninja Creami recipes - that's because I was traveling in my RV for a couple of years and I needed easy recipes that didn't require a ton of ingredients that I could cook from my RV. Trust me, you want to avoid heating up your oven or using the stove top as much as possible when you're RV'ing - especially in the summer.
Nutrition Private Practice
In addition to this blog, I run a virtual nutrition practice where I see patients who are looking to have medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling with a dietitian. I take a few insurances, so if you're looking to work with me, send me an email and I'll see if I am in network with your insurance provider.
I'm a research nerd at heart and had been putting some nutrition articles on this blog, but I decided that they deserved their own blog. So if you're looking for all things nutrition, or you're a fellow dietitian, check out my blog For Dietitians.
Other Ventures
With a love of photography, I started a Food Photography Business with my best friend Erica - if you're a brand or blogger looking to work with us, check out our gallery at Fork and Lens Studio.
What inspired me
Ever since college I have been obsessed with tinkering in the kitchen. I grew up a very picky eater, so a main goal of my food blog is to make healthy and delicious recipes that everyone will enjoy.
Physical activity has been a foundation of my adulthood, whether it's weight lifting, hiking, walking or rollerblading. It's one of the main reasons I became a personal trainer in addition to being a dietitian so I could better understand the importance nutrition plays with physical performance.
Additional Blogs
Since I'm now living in a sticks and brick home, I've created a couple new websites, one of which is From Ice Cream to Steak where you'll find some of my favorite not so healthy recipes, and my new dessert blog Give a Girl a Spoon where you'll find a mixture of protein ice cream recipes and indulgent ones.
As a media dietitian I've been interviewed by dozens of media outlets including NBC News, Women's Health, and SHAPE.
I am also a contributor for Food Drink Life, which is a food, travel and lifestyle online magazine.
Lara's Background
I attended Florida State University and the University of North Florida for my CADE undergraduate degree in nutrition. I completed my Master’s degree in Science of Nutrition from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida.
Over the past 13 years as a dietitian, I have worked in a wide variety of settings, including Cardiovascular ICU, Out Patient Cancer Center, Hemodialysis Clinics, and Long Term Care Facilities.
Interesting Tid Bits
I have a 40ft 5th Wheel RV in which I have traveled all over the US with my 3 pups, Stella, Loki and Nash. I enjoy visiting National and State Parks. Prior to that, I had a converted Sprinter van, but having 3 dogs, an upgrade was necessary.
