Why you’ll love this easy Blackstone Shrimp Recipe

  • Quick Recipe – This recipe requires little prep time and cooks in just 5 minutes! You can even use shrimp that have already been peeled to save time!
  • Minimal ingredients – just 6 ingredients in juicy shrimp recipe! You can find all of them at your local grocery store.
  • Low Carb & Paleo Recipe – this lemon garlic shrimp recipe is low in carb and has wholesome ingredients so it’s great for those following a keto or paleo diet.

Ingredients

  • Avocado oil: or any other high heat oil
  • Seasonings: fresh minced or grated garlic cloves, coarse or kosher salt, ground black pepper
  • Shrimp: I used a 1# bag of frozen extra large shrimp. Mine said 16-20 shrimp per pound. I let the frozen shrimp defrost over night in the fridge. You can also you fresh shrimp for this recipe.
  • Toppings: fresh lemon juice, cilantro and/or parsley to garnish

Tips & Tricks

  • Preheat your grill first! These shrimp cook over medium high heat super quick. We don’t want them to over cook or turn out rubbery.
  • Grill your lemon. I placed the lemon halves on the grill while I was cooking the shrimp. It made the lemon easier to juice.

Tools to make this easy recipe

  • I have the 22 inch portable tabletop flat griddle grill station. It’s perfect for the RV travel life! I also have friends that have the Blackstone Adventure Ready 2-Burner 28″ Outdoor Griddle

How to make this Lemon Garlic Shrimp Recipe

  1. In a small bowl combine the avocado oil, fresh garlic, salt and pepper.
  2. Next peel the shells from the raw shrimp. Personally I left the tails on but you can take them off if you’d like.
  3. Add the shrimp to a large baggie or bowl and then top with the avocado oil mixture. Make sure to coat evenly.
  4. Next heat the Blackstone grill over medium high heat.
  5. Once hot add the shrimp to the grill in a single layer. Be carefully because shrimp cooks quick!
  6. Once the shrimp start to no longer be translucent flip the shrimp (2 minutes)
  7. Cook for an additional 1-2 until shrimp is fully cooked on the other side. Be careful to not overcook!
  8. Remove from the griddle and transfer to a plate.
  9. Squeeze the lemon and top with fresh parsley or cilantro. Add additional kosher salt or pepper per taste.

Stovetop Directions

Follow steps 1-3 from above. Then heat a large skillet or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.

Once the skillet is hot, add the contents of the baggie with the uncooked shrimp to the skillet.

Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes and then flip and cook an additional 1-2 minutes until the shrimp are white/pink and no longer translucent in color.

Flavor Substitutions

If you decide to make this recipe on a stove top instead of on the Blackstone, I would make a nice lemon garlic butter sauce! On the Blackstone it’s hard to make sauces since it kind of goes everywhere.

These succulent shrimp would also taste great with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to give this great recipe a little kick.

What to serve with Garlic Lemon Shrimp

If you’re trying to keep this meal keto, then check out these Blackstone side dishes that are low in carbs.

  • Blackstone Griddle Brussel Sprouts
  • Blackstone Zucchini
  • Asparagus on the Blackstone Griddle

If you’re not concerned about carbs, serve with angel hair pasta (or your favorite pasta), lemon wedges, garlic parmesan asparagus and a crusty bread to make this a delicious yet simple recipe.

Or if you’re wanting to make this a low carb meal, serve with these healthy recipes: cilantro lime cauliflower rice and air fryer frozen brussel sprouts.

This easy shrimp recipe will soon become a family favorite for busy weeknights.

How to store Garlicky Shrimp

Store any leftovers in a glass airtight container for up to 3 days. I’m a strong believer that seafood doesn’t last as long as other proteins after it’s been cooked.

How to reheat

Avoid warming the shrimp in the microwave. It tends to make the shrimp rubbery. For best results, warm up the shrimp in an air fryer at 390F for 1-2 minutes.

FAQs

Can I use olive oil instead of avocado oil in this recipe?

I would avoid using olive oil when cooking at high temperature because of olive oil’s low smoke point.

Do I need to remove the tails before cooking?

No! Personally I prefer to keep the shrimp tails on when cooking.

How do you cook shrimp on a Blackstone Griddle or flat top grill?

Heat up the Blackstone or flat top grill to medium high heat. Add oil. Cook shrimp for a couple of minutes then flip and cook until shrimp are no longer translucent.

Can you do shrimp skewers on Blackstone Griddle?

Yes, simply thread the shrimp onto pre-soaked wood skewers. Then add the shrimp to the marinade. Add the skewers to the grill and cook for a few minutes on each side.
