How Long to Cook Shrimp on a Blackstone Griddle?

Large shrimp on the Blackstone cook in about 5 minutes over medium high heat. Because The Blackstone is very hot the shrimp cook very quick with a nice sear on the outside.

Preheat your Blackstone to medium high heat. Make sure the shell is removed from the shrimp (tails on are okay). Add a few tablespoons of avocado oil to your griddle.

Once the oil is hot add the shrimp to the flat top. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are pink and white. Flip the shrimp and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the shrimp are no longer translucent.

Season with salt, pepper, lemon juice and parsley.

So what is the best oil to use on a Blackstone?

Since the Blackstone cooks at a very high temperature, you can’t use just any type of oil. You need to use a high heat oil, meaning that it has a high smoke point. My favorite oil to use is avocado oil.

In addition to avocado oil, you can also use lard, tallow, coconut oil, ghee and butter.

Stay away from vegetable oils, canola oil, soy bean oil, peanut oil, seed oils (grapeseed, walnut, sesame seed), and olive oil. These oils either have lower smoke points or are high in omega 6 fatty acids which are pro-inflammatory.
