Deliciously refreshing, with just enough sweetness, you'll love this strawberry protein ice cream made in the Ninja Creami. Top it with all of your favorite toppings for a post workout snack or a healthy protein packed dessert.

Strawberry Protein Ice Cream

If you've been a follower of my blog for any time now, you know that I'm a huge lover of protein ice cream recipes. It all started out with this chocolate protein ice cream recipe that kinda went viral. To this day it's still one of the most popular recipes on my blog!

This recipe is from my Healthy Ice Cream Recipes Ebook. You'll find this recipe and 25 other recipes, including protein ice cream recipes, dairy-free recipes, and recipes without gums and pudding mixes.

A glass bowl filled with strawberry ice cream topped with frozen strawberries and small white sprinkles, with a metal spoon inserted on the right side.

Since then, I've created a plethora of protein ice cream recipes including this chocolate cherry protein ice cream, chocolate peanut butter protein ice cream, banana protein ice cream, and this chocolate banana protein ice cream.

The fact is, you can pretty much add a scoop of unflavored protein powder to any recipe, as long as it's a high quality protein powder. I've noticed the isolates tend to work better, but I haven't tried every brand on the market yet. Depending on the fat content or lack of emulsifiers, you may just have to give it a re-spin or two for the best texture.

So, a few things about this ice cream.

  1. It's more of a soft-serve consistency, but don't let that deter you from making it. It was delicious!
  2. It doesn't have the best macros compared to my other recipes, but it's still way better than eating a pint of store-bought protein ice cream.

Tips & Tricks

Be sure to prepare in advance. This recipe takes 18-24 hours to freeze. I like to plan ahead and make it before the weekend. This is when I always want an extra sweet treat.

Tools to make this easy recipe

  • Ninja Blender – I love my ninja blender. Not only can you use it for the obvious, like smoothies and shakes, but it also works perfectly for making the ice cream base!
  • Ninja Creami ice cream maker – I am in love with this Ninja Creami.
  • Ninja Creami Pints - I opted for these pints because they were about half the price, but be weary if you need them quickly; it took about three weeks to get here. They did have some prime options for other pint containers, but I was being thrifty.

How to make Strawberry Protein Ice Cream with your Ninja Creami

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Next, transfer the mixture into the Ninja Creami pint and place the lid on.
  3. Transfer the pint to the freezer and freeze for at least 24 hours.
  4. After 24 hours, remove the lid and place the pint into the pint holder. Place the lid with the blade on top and lock it into place.
  5. Run the Ninja Creami on the lite ice cream function. You will need to respin twice for the best texture.
  6. Enjoy!

How to store

When freezing the ice cream pint, make sure the lid is on secured and it's placed in the freezer on a flat surface. The ice cream should last 3 to 6 months in the freezer.

If you don't eat all of the ice cream in one sitting, make sure to flatten the top of the ice cream, replace the lid and store in the freezer. When you're ready to eat it again you will need to run it on the ice cream or lit ice cream function for 2 spins.

I’m new to this. What can I substitute for the whey? I react to it so do I need to replace it with something else? Thanks.

You can sub it for any protein powder that you tolerate
