Chocolate Banana Protein Ice Cream
Chocolate banana protein ice cream is a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional ice cream. Made with bananas, protein powder, low carb milk and cocoa powder, this ice cream has a rich and creamy texture that is similar to soft-serve ice cream.
The bananas give the ice cream a natural sweetness, and the cocoa powder adds a deep chocolate flavor that is both satisfying and indulgent. The additional sweetener is optional, but if you like it extra sweet you can add them in.
One of the best things about chocolate banana ice cream is its texture. Unlike traditional ice cream, which can be heavy and dense, this ice cream is light and refreshing, making it the perfect treat for a hot summer day.
It also has a smooth and creamy texture that is incredibly satisfying, without the added calories and fat of traditional ice cream. This Ninja Creami protein ice cream is a delicious and guilt-free way to indulge in your sweet tooth.

Ingredients
- Fairlife milk - Fairlife is a great high-protein, low-carb, low-fat milk option. And it has no funky gums or emulsifiers that can mess with your stomach! I’ve used both 2% and fat-free versions when making this recipe.
- Banana - I used a banana in the ice cream base and I sliced a half of one as a topping.
- Naked Nutrition Grass-fed Whey Protein - I use the unflavored grass-fed protein powder. By far my favorite protein powder. It mixes great and doesn’t have any weird or gritty aftertaste and mouth feel.
- Vanilla - you can use either liquid vanilla extract or you can even use vanilla bean paste for a richer vanilla flavor
- Stevia extract - I love the convenience of NOW Organic Stevia Extract
- Besti Monk Fruit Erythritol Blend - I’ve been loving the Besti Brand Sweeteners. I have a few of them that I alternate between.
- Cocoa powder - Regular or dark cocoa powder works. Just ensure you don’t use cacao powder for this, or it will be bitter and not as sweet.
- Optional mix-ins like chocolate chips or nuts.

Tools to make this easy recipe
- Ninja Blender – I absolutely love my ninja blender. You can use it for the obvious, like smoothies and shakes, and it also works perfectly for making the ice cream base!
- Ninja Creami ice cream Maker – I love this Ninja Creami. Before I bought these extra Ninja Creami Pints, I used them daily. I make ice cream in my Ninja Creami in bulk, creating 4-5 recipes at a time. I opted for those pints because they were about half the price, but be weary if you need them quickly; it took about three weeks to get here.
How to make Chocolate Banana Protein Ice Cream
- Add all of the ingredients into a blender except for the whole banana. Blend until the ingredients are well combined.
- Transfer the liquid to the Creami ice cream pint and place the lid on. Freeze for 18-24 hours.
- Once the ice cream base is completely frozen, remove it from the freezer.
- Remove the lid and transfer the pint into the Ninja Creami pint holder.
- Place the blade into the lid and then place the lid onto the pint holder.
- Lock the ice cream into the creami and select either the ice cream or lite ice cream selections.
- If your ice cream is a little dusty in texture and not creamy after one round of spinning, select the “spin again” setting.
- Next, make a hole in the ice cream, chop ½ of the banana, and put it into the hole. Next, select the “mix-in” setting and let that run. After it’s finished, remove the pint from the holder.
- Top with the remaining ½ of the banana and enjoy.
Substitutions
- If you want a high-calorie protein ice cream, you can substitute the milk with heavy cream or half and half. This would be good for someone wanting to gain weight, who is having trouble getting enough calories in, or if you are intermittent fasting and need high-calorie food choices.
- If you can't find Fairlife milk, you can use 1% or 2% milk of your choice.
- You can also use any milk alternative instead of Fairlife milk to reduce the calorie content of this protein ice cream.
- You can add in mix-ins like nuts or sugar-free chocolate chips
- You can use frozen bananas instead of fresh ones if that's all you have.
How to store
Store this high-protein chocolate ice cream in the freezer with the lid on and on a flat surface. It should last 3 to 6 months in the freezer as long as the lid is on tight to avoid freezer burn.
The Ninja Creami lid is perfect for preventing freezer burn! Please note, you will have to use the Ninja Creami Ice Cream makes every time you put the pint back in the freezer.
