Why you'll love this Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Ice Cream

  • Super easy to make - this recipe is made with just a few ingredients and takes little time to prepare.
  • Healthy ice cream recipe - less than 150 calories per serving!
  • High Protein Ice Cream - this ice cream recipe has 42g of protein for the entire pint!

Ingredients

  • Fairlife milk - Fairlife is a great high-protein, low-carb, low-fat milk option. And it doesn’t have those funky gums or emulsifiers than can mess with your stomach! I’ve used both 2% and fat-free versions when making this recipe.
  • Banana - I used half a banana so it gives a pop of flavor
  • Naked Nutrition Grass-fed Whey Protein - I use the unflavored grass-fed protein powder. By far my favorite protein powder. It mixes great and doesn’t have any weird or gritty aftertaste and mouth feel.
  • Vanilla - you can use either liquid vanilla extract or you can even use vanilla bean paste for a richer vanilla flavor
  • Stevia extract - I love the convenience of NOW Organic Stevia Extract
  • Besti Monk Fruit Erythritol Blend - I’ve been loving the Besti Brand Sweeteners. I have a few of them that I alternate between.
  • Cocoa powder - Regular or dark cocoa powder works. Just make sure you don’t use cacao powder for this or it will be bitter and not as sweet.
  • Peanut butter (crunchy or creamy)

Tips & Tricks

Make sure to make this recipe the day before you want to eat the ice cream. If not you’ll be sad and have to wait 18-24 hours before you’re able to eat it.

Tools to make this easy recipe

  • Ninja Blender – I absolutely love my ninja blender. Not only can you use it for the obvious like smoothies and shakes, but it works perfectly for making the ice cream base as well!
  • Ninja Creami ice cream maker – I honestly am in love with this Ninja Creami. Before I bought these extra Ninja Creami Pints I was using them every day. Now I make ice cream in my Ninja Creami in bulk, doing 4-5 recipes at a time. I opted for those pints because they were about half the price, but be weary if you need them quickly, it took about 3 weeks to get here. They did have some prime options, but I was being thrifty.

How to make Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Ice Cream

  1. Add all of the ingredients into a blender except for the peanut butter. Blend until the ingredients are well combined.
  2. Transfer the liquid to the Creami ice cream pint and place the lid on. Freeze for 18-24 hours.
  3. Once the ice cream base is completely frozen, remove it from the freezer.
  4. Remove the lid and transfer the pint into the Ninja Creami pint holder.
  5. Place the blade into the lid and then place the lid onto the pint holder.
  6. Lock the ice cream into the creami and select either the ice cream or soft serve selections.
  7. If after one round of spinning your ice cream is a little dusty in texture and not creamy, select the “spin again” setting.
  8. Next, make a hole in the ice cream and drop in the peanut butter. Next, select the “mix-in” setting and let that run. After it’s finished remove the pint from the holder and enjoy.

Substitutions

  • For a regular chocolate peanut butter ice cream, substitute the Fairlife milk for half and half and omit the protein powder.
  • If you do not have Fairlife milk, you can use organic milk or even chocolate milk. Chocolate milk will increase the calorie and sugar content more than regular milk.
  • You can use chocolate protein powder if you do not have unflavored protein powder.
  • If you want to lower the fat percentage you can use powdered peanut butter and use fat-free milk.

How to store

Store this high-protein chocolate peanut butter ice cream in the freezer with the lid on and on a flat surface. It should last 3 to 6 months in the freezer as long as the lid is on tight to avoid freezer burn.
