Tips & Tricks
Be sure to prepare in advance. This recipe takes 18-24 hours to freeze. I like to plan ahead and make it before the weekend. This is when I always want an extra sweet treat.
Tools to make this easy recipe
- Ninja Blender – I love my ninja blender. Not only can you use it for the obvious, like smoothies and shakes, but it also works perfectly for making the ice cream base!
- Ninja Creami ice cream maker – I am in love with this Ninja Creami.
- Ninja Creami Pints - I opted for these pints because they were about half the price, but be weary if you need them quickly; it took about three weeks to get here. They did have some prime options for other pint containers, but I was being thrifty.
How to make Ninja Creami Blueberry Frozen Yogurt
- Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
- Next, transfer the blueberry yogurt mixture to the Ninja Creami ice cream pint and place the lid on tight. Freeze for 18-24 hours.
- Once the ice cream base is completely frozen, remove it from the freezer.
- Remove the lid and transfer the pint into the Ninja Creami pint holder.
- Place the blade into the lid and then place the lid onto the pint holder.
- Lock the ice cream into the creami and select either the ice cream or soft serve selections.
- If, after one round of spinning, your frozen yogurt is a little dusty in texture and not creamy, select the “spin again” setting.
- Serve and enjoy!
Substitutions
If you don't have plain Greek yogurt, you can always substitute it for vanilla Greek yogurt or other Greek yogurt flavors. Just remember this will change the nutrition of your frozen yogurt.
How to store
Store your Blueberry Frozen Yogurt in the freezer with the lid on. Mine never lasts longer than a few days, but it should last 3 to 6 months in the freezer. When you’re ready to eat your frozen yogurt, you’ll need to select the lite ice cream function again to make it nice, creamy, and ready to eat.
FAQs
No, you don't need to cook the blueberries beforehand. You can blend them directly with the other ingredients.
Yes, you can use frozen blueberries instead of fresh ones. Frozen blueberries work well in this recipe and provide a convenient option, especially if fresh blueberries are not in season.
Absolutely! If you prefer a dairy-free option, you can use plant-based yogurts made from almond milk, coconut milk, or soy milk. The Ninja Creami can still process these alternatives and create a delicious blueberry frozen yogurt.

Hi Laura, I’ve only just bought my Creami and this was my first recipe. I used fresh raspberries and full fat natural yoghurt but even after spinning three times (one on Ice Cream and twice on Respin) it was still very icy - any idea why this might be? Should I have left the frozen base out for 15 minutes or so before spinning?
Lara Clevenger, Registered Dietitian
Hmmm that is very strange. I haven't made this recipe with natural yogurt, just the low carb yogurt. And when I have made other with yogurt I've always had more liquid like a fairlife protein shake or fair life milk. You can always try scraping the sides down too if they are a little icy and then re-spin.
Mike
Thanks Laura, I’ll try the next batch with Greek yoghurt (which is what I buy normally anyway). To be fair, even with the iciness it was really nice. When I had the second half of it I left it out for 15 mins first and added some finely chopped sugar free dark chocolate into it and it was a bit less icy.
I’m going to try your Cherry one next so we’ll see how that goes!
Lara
Glad to hear that it was still good! The cherry and blueberry ones with the raw goats milk and raw cows milk are some of my favorites. The milk straight from the farm is just so much creamier and IMO makes for superior texture. You can always substitute for your favorite store bought milk as well.
