You won’t believe how easy this chocolate protein frozen yogurt is to make! Plus it uses only 2 ingredients. Less than 300 calories and 37g of protein for the entire pint?! Yes please!

A bowl of ice cream topped with whipped cream, chocolate chips, and cereal pieces, with a spoon resting on the bowl's edge.

After making this high-protein chocolate ice cream using just almond milk and a Fairlife shake, I wanted to see what other easy ice cream recipes I could make using them.

Today's experiment was making a frozen yogurt.

It worked flawlessly. And needed way less re-spins and the texture was way better too! Please read the optional ingredients and substitution sections of this post, because I made this a very basic recipe.

It still tasted great, you get the tang from the yogurt and the chocolate flavor from the protein shake, but I give you options to increase the macros and make the flavor pop.

If you're looking for more easy and delicious recipes, check out my Healthy Ice Cream Recipes Ebook. You'll find 26 recipes, including protein ice cream recipes, dairy-free recipes, and recipes without gums and pudding mixes.

Ingredients

  • 1 Chocolate Fairlife Protein Shake (the one with 30g protein)
  • ¾ cup Stonyfield Plain Whole Milk Organic Yogurt

You only need the 2 ingredients above to make a delicious high-protein chocolate frozen yogurt. However, if you want to give it a more chocolatey flavor, feel free to add the following optional ingredients.

Optional ingredients

  • 1-2 tablespoons cocoa powder or cacao if you want an even richer flavor. If you add cacao, you might need to up the sweetener a tad bit more, though.
  • 1-2 tablespoons sweetener of choice
Three scoops of brown ice cream in a white bowl on a marble surface.

Optional Toppings

Toppings - they make it more fun right?! Below is what I used for toppings.

  • Cascadian Farms cinnamon crunch cereal
  • Sugar Free Whipped Cream
  • Sugar Free Chocolate Chips
  • Sprinkles

Nutrition

For the entire pint: 288kcals, 37g protein, 15g carbs, 10g fat

Please note that these are the macros without any toppings.

Tools to make this Ninja Creami Recipe

  • Ninja Creami ice cream maker – I am in love with this Ninja Creami.
  • Ninja Creami Pints – I opted for these pints because they were about half the price, but be weary if you need them quickly; it took about three weeks to get here. They did have some prime options for other pint containers, but I was being thrifty.

How to make this Ninja Creami Chocolate Protein Frozen Yogurt

  1. Add the protein shake and yogurt to a pint container and stir until well mixed. Optionally you can mix it in a blended, it’s okay if the yogurt doesn’t completely mix.
  2. Place the lid on securely and transfer to the freezer. Freeze for 24 hours.
  3. After 24 hours, remove the lid and place the pint into the pint holder. Place the lid with the blade on top and lock into place.
  4. Run the Ninja Creami on the lite ice cream function. You will need to re-spin it 1 time for the best texture.
  5. Optionally, top with sprinkles or your favorite ice cream toppings and enjoy!

Substitutions

For this recipe, I used whole milk plain yogurt because that's what I had on hand. If you want to increase the protein content more, switch the plain yogurt for a Greek yogurt.

Want to decrease the fat content of this recipe? Swap out the whole milk yogurt with a fat free yogurt or a fat free Greek yogurt.

Want to make the flavor pop a little more? Add a few drops of vanilla extract or use a vanilla yogurt or vanilla Greek yogurt for this recipe.

HOW TO STORE

When freezing the ice cream pint, make sure the lid is on secured and it's placed in the freezer on a flat surface. The ice cream should last 3 to 6 months in the freezer.

If you don't eat all of the ice cream in one sitting, make sure to flatten the top of the ice cream, replace the lid and store in the freezer. When you're ready to eat it again you will need to run it on the ice cream or lit ice cream function for 2 spins.
