Apple Fritter Rings

- 2 large Breeze apples
- 1 ¼ cup butter milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup flour
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Dixie Crystals 2 tablespoons sugar
- zest of 1 orange or lemon juice
- dash of salt
- Dixie Crystals Powdered Sugar
- Caramel Sauce
In a large bowl combine buttermilk and egg. Set aside.
In a small bowl combine the dry ingredients.
Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Dip apple rings into the smooth batter.
Zest the orange and add to the batter.
Slice apples into ⅓ inch slices. Thin s;ices are the best.
Completely cover in batter.
Fry until golden brown. (I used a deep fryer with peanut oil at 375)
Top with powdered sugar and caramel sauce. Yummy apple donuts!
Additionally, you can place the fried rings on a cooling rack before eating.
