Smoked Brats

Making these Smoked Brats are great for a weekend dinner or even to meal prep for the next few days. It's great to have extra brats on hand if you're wanting to cook a bunch of foods on the smoker for a BBQ like these Smoked Chicken Drumsticks and these Traeger Smoked Pork Chops.

I picked these brats up at my local meat market, and they did not dissappoint!

Cooking brats on a Traeger always come out perfect! They're so easy to make and hard to mess up!

These brats are even great as an appetizer! Slice them up and serve them with different dipping sauces like you would do with lil smokies.

Tips & Tricks

Ensure you keep an eye on the temperature when cooking these brats. A meat thermometer is essential! If you over cook them they won't be as juicy as they should.

Tools to make this smoker recipe

I'm absolutely in love with my Traeger pellet grill! If you're looking for my exact model, I have the Traeger Grills Pro Series 34 Electric Wood Pellet Grill and Smoker.

The Traeger grill, renowned for its versatility and superior wood-fired taste, elevates your cooking experience by infusing the pork chops with rich, smoky flavors that penetrate deep into the meat.

The combination of natural hardwood pellets, precise temperature control, and the unique smoky flavor profile of Traeger grills ensures that each bite is a sensory explosion.

FAQs

How long should I smoke brats on a Traeger grill?

Typically, brats should be smoked for about at least an hour on a Traeger grill, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F.

What temperature should I set my smoker to for smoking brats?

It's recommended to set your Traeger grill to a temperature of 225-250°F for smoking brats. This low and slow cooking method ensures a thorough smoke infusion while maintaining juicy tenderness.

Do I need to pre-cook brats before smoking them on a Traeger?

No, pre-cooking brats before smoking is not necessary. However, some people prefer to parboil or simmer brats briefly before smoking to ensure they are fully cooked and to reduce the smoking time.

Can I add other ingredients or flavors while smoking brats on a Traeger?

Absolutely! You can experiment with adding sliced onions, peppers, or even beer to the foil packet or drip pan to infuse additional flavors into the brats while they smoke. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time accordingly.
