Fire up the grill and prepare your appetite. This mouth-watering Portobello Mushroom Bison Burger is the end all and be all burger for veggie lovers. Lean and flavorful bison patty, topped with pepper jack cheese, a plump and meaty portobello mushroom, and finally grilled onions and bell peppers. I’ll give you a second to wipe the drool from your face…
So this was the first time I’d ever made a bison burger before. I’ve had them plenty of times in the past, but I’d never made them myself. I used to get bison sliders all the time back in Jacksonville where I went to college and when I saw bison at the store I thought why not give it a shot!
I didn’t make sliders because I found my long lost favorite buns at BJ’s Wholesale Club. They’re an onion roll with poppy seeds. I hadn’t had them in years! Portobello mushrooms and bell peppers are a staple in my house and they are so easy to cook on the grill so I thought they’d be a perfect topping for this burger.
One thing I really love about BJ’s is all of the free samples! I’m a sucker for them. It was especially good timing since I was starting to get hungry so I was able to snack a little so I didn’t over eat when I got home. Also I hate shopping when I’m hungry because I always end up with so many impulse purchases. Side note, everyone was so friendly and let me take their pictures 🙂
I managed to get out of the store with only a few impulse buys. Is it just me or do you tend to buy more things when you’re hungry too?
