This 5-5-5 method for cooking eggs in the Instant Pot does the trick every time! The 5-5-5 method is when you cook for 5 minutes at high pressure, natural pressure release for 5 minutes and cool the eggs for 5 minutes in an ice bath.

If you read my post on hard boiling farm fresh eggs, you'll know that eggs from the super market are several weeks old. Because of this they they peel MUCH easier than fresh eggs from the farm. Farm fresh eggs are typically 1 day to a week old.

I’ve noticed if you don’t peel the eggs before transferring them to the fridge that they sometimes stick to the whites. So be sure to peel all of your egg shells off before storing them in the fridge.
Tools to make this easy recipe
For this easy hard boiled egg recipe, you'll need an Instant Pot and a trivet. I used the 6Qt Instant Pot and a silicone basket trivet. I prefer the silicone trivet over the metal ones.
How to make Instant Pot Eggs 5-5-5 Method
- First place the water in the bottom of the Instant Pot. Then place a trivet in the instant pot.
- Next add your eggs to the trivet carefully. Place the lid on the instant pot and make sure that the knob is set to sealed. Select high pressure and then set the time to 5 minutes.
- After the eggs have cooked for 5 minutes under pressure, perform a 5 minute natural release and then quickly release the rest of the pressure.
- Immediately transfer the eggs to an ice bath. Let the eggs sit in the ice bath for about 5 minutes to cool down.
- After 5 minutes, peel all of the eggs.

You can boil 6 eggs at a time by using a silicone trivet the covers the entire inside of the instant pot instead of a metal one. I've cooked 1.5 dozen eggs at the same time using this method.
~10 minutes to come to pressure, 5 minutes to cook, 5 minutes natural pressure release and 5 minutes of an ice bath. So about 25 minutes total time to make hard boiled eggs.
These eggs are incredibly easy to peel after they've been in an ice bath. Make sure to peel them all before storing them in the fridge.
