Today was day 4 of my 30 day vegan challenge. How did I fare?! Keep on reading to find out!
So last night I attended a bachelorette party in downtown Orlando. The bride to be chose Dave and Buster’s for dinner and then we went to Howl at the Moon dueling Piano Bar and Señor Frogs.
I told the girls that night that I was eating vegan for at least 30 days. Some of them were very supportive and others were joking and some questioning me why I was doing it. This morning before the car ride back home, I got into a very in-depth conversation with one of my friends about why I was doing this 30 day vegan challenge. She stated the she could never go vegan.
I never thought in my wildest dreams that I could truly go vegan. I am one of those girls who could down a half pound burger, fries and a milk shake or devour a whole rack of ribs. The funny thing is that going vegan has been MUCH easier than I have ever expected. I don’t even crave meat or cheese any more and this surprises me the most!
30 Day Vegan Challeng
My boyfriend is super supportive of me doing this 30 day vegan challenge. We still cook and eat dinner together, just his meal has meat/dairy and mine does not. He even ate 2 left over vegan tacos for lunch today and like them! I don’t think that he will ever go vegan, but I truly think that I can make this a lifestyle change.
I am slowly learning more about the ethical and environmental side about veganism and it’s truly an eye opener. Yes, I knew some of the ethical and environmental sides of eating meat just from watching movies such as Forks Over Knives and Cowspiracy, but to find out how much water goes into creating one pound of beef or a gallon of milk, or how much of our rain forests are being destroyed to raise cattle, it’s truly insane.
Now I’m not going to preach or try to make every one of my clients and friends go vegan, but if one asks me why I eat plant-based/vegan I will tell them and let them make their own decision about how they eat.
Day 4 FOOD INTAKE
Wakeup smoothie: 1 small espresso (instant espresso powder and hot water) + 1 banana + chocolate vegan protein powder + coconut milk + stevia extract. Blend with ice.
Tacos! So good. Recipe will be posted soon, but until then you can check out a picture of it on my instagram 🙂
Peanut butter and banana sandwich on Eureka bread. Lara Bar (cookie dough is my favorite)
Dinner: Eating Vegan Dave and Busters
Bachelorette Party, eating vegan Dave and busters, was kind of a let down. I got one of their side salads. It was spring mix, with pecans and sliced apples. I asked for no cheese, and it came with a raspberry vinaigrette. I also got a side of sweet potato fries. Michelob Ultra, I’ll leave it at that LOL. They didn’t really have that many vegan options, maybe it will change in the future?
Before bed ~2:30/3am I had another Lara Bar (the coconut creme one, so tasty!), while everyone else ate McDonald’s. I did have like 3 of their french fries though.
Before bed I drank a bottle of water and took my multi-vitamin. I woke up at 7:10am like a champ. No hangover, no headache, I felt awesome. I was very disappointed in the vegan/vegetarian options at Dave and Busters. There was not a single entrée that was vegan.
DAY 4 WORKOUT:
I was supposed to run/walk the bridges (~4 miles) with my friend at 6am, but she didn’t get off work until after midnight so she ending up canceling. I was a little disappointed to hear this when I texted her at 5:15am, but I was able to go back to sleep and sleep in until 9am. I ended up doing my Booty Blastin’ Workout and then Stella and I ran/walked for 1.2 miles in 16:20 seconds. This was at about 1pm so it was getting a little toasty outside in this Florida heat.
After that I hurried up, got showered and changed and away we went for the bachelorette party. And yes it is possible to attend a bachelorette party out in downtown Orlando and still eat vegan. You just need to plan ahead and bring snacks and read the menu ahead of time if you know where you are going for dinner.
